Start of term

After some hiccoughs (thank you google) I have now set this blog up.  Everybody registered on this course is required to post at least one book review to it: the log-in details are on Moodle, so please just go in and post your review when it's written.  Try to make it interesting: not just a boiled-down account of what happens with a bald statement of whether you liked it or not.  Try to be properly critical: analyse the text, discuss it.  Check out the blogroll, to the right, and browse the reviews blogs I list there (including my own reviews blog) for a sense of what you can do.  Remember: the point about reviewing is to help you think in a more engaged way about the novels you read -- specifically, about how they work, how they achieve (or fail to achieve) the effects they do.  Talk about that, in your review.
